how to: that no-makeup makeup look.

No Makeup Makeup Look
how in the world is it already the weekend? i swear it does not feel like i’ve already been out here in LA for a month! everyone warned me it was going to fly by, but i didn’t think anything of it. i’m just trying to soak it all in a much as i can before it’s over.
with that being said, i have been trying to not take as long in the morning to get ready. why waste an hour and a half or more doing your hair & makeup when you can be out and about?! so i have been loving that no-makeup makeup look for days that i just want to get out the door. it’s fast (15 minutes or less fast!) and leaves you with a youthful, glowing look that i know we all want.
i mean who doesn’t want to look good “without” makeup?

everyday MATTE makeup.

okay, let me start off by saying that this was a much darker look in person. i guess mattes don’t pick up well on camera. sad day.
anyways, i’ve been obsessed with matte eyeshadow for quite some time now. i think it’s definitely a personal preference thing. i used to love satin and shimmery finishes, but there’s just something about a completely matte look that just screams CLASS to me.
and don’t get me wrong, i am all for a sparkly, shimmery look for special occasions, but for the everyday purposes of just going to class, work, church, the grocery store, yatta yatta, this. is. perfect.
to make this look even better, it takes maybe 5 minutes. score.
to get this look, i’ve been using the urban decay naked smoky palette.
if you’re obsessed with mattes like i am, this palette is for you, girlfriend!
i always start out with a base to keep my eyeshadow from creasing and to ensure that it stays put all day. the mac paint pot in painterly has been my go-to for years now.
i take the shade COMBUST from the smoky palette and dust that all over my lid and up into, and over, my crease.
then, using a smaller dome crease brush, take the color WHISKEY (or PASSWORD works great too!) and apply it in the crease. be sure to keep it in the crease and fade it gradually into the inner crease.
to keep the lid bright, i put a little bit of THIRTEEN on the inner corner and also right under my brow (after i do them, of course).
add a little bit of liner and mascara to finish off your eyes.
to finish off this look, i use a lip liner to keep things totally matte. in this look i’m wearing nyx MAUVE, but another favorite of mine is mac STRIPDOWN.
i’ve linked just about all of the things needed to get this look below, so get to shoppin’!
(ooo! and some extra matte lip options!)
