summer Seventeen Social Club beauty box

happy monday, loves!
i’ve got a fun unboxing video for you, vlog style, straight from my car.
as most of you may know, i’m in the Seventeen Social Club, which is a group of bloggers, youtubers, and social media gals who all love fashion and beauty (like me!) and love spreading the word about great companies and their products (like me!).
so to give y’all a little more insight into the social club and kind of a behind the scenes look at being a blogger, i thought i’d show you what kinds of products i get sent from my girls at seventeen!
i try and test all of the products that i receive, and share my thoughts on the ones i love!
we’ve got to keep things genuine up in here!
that being said, if there is any product that you want my thoughts on i would love to do a post specifically for that. let me know in a comment or email!

products mentioned:
i’ve tried this spray out a couple of times and am loving it so far! like i said in the vlog, if a product like this works on my hair it will work on anyone’s.
definitely expect this to be featured in a post soon!

i have honestly never heard of this brand before, but i’ve been using the line for about a week and am seeing great results! definitely worth checking out if you have mild breakout like i do. if you’re afraid of fully committing to new products (i know i am!), paula’s choice offers a 2 week trial size kit of these products for $13. such a good deal!!

fresh summer face + bb cream REVIEW!

the summer heat is in full swing here in texas, and you know that means…sweaty, oily skin.
well, at least for this gal. anyone else with me?
because of this i tend to stray away from applying a lot of face makeup if i can help it.
i usually throw on a little concealer (if needed), some bronzer and call it good. eye makeup depends on my agenda for that day, but for the typical summer day a natural, glowy look is pretty much my go to.

i just started using the new CoverGirl Clean BB Cream this past week and i’m already in love with it!! shoutout to my girls at seventeen for sending it over!
if you have oily/combo skin this is a great product for you. it’s an oil free formula, super lightweight, yet still has great coverage to keep your skin looking fab, and stays put throughout the day.

let’s just say i truly put this bb cream to the test yesterday. i applied it at 8:30am (and used a light setting spray) before church and it still looked fine that afternoon at 5pm after my super sweaty gym sesh!

the last thing i love about this product is that it’s a waterbased, noncomedogenic formula. that’s fancy talk for it let’s your skin breathe, which means no clogged pores! so for you acne-prone girlies out there this is ah-maze-ing!!

for the rest of my face, i contour just a little bit under my cheekbones and down my nose, apply my favorite highlighter (of all time), and set it all with my finishing spray.

because oily skin tends to cause your eye shadow to crease, make sure to use a good base. (i prefer the mac paint pots.) to keep everything light and bright i used mac’s “all that glitters” shadow all over the lid with little bit of urban decay’s “combust” in the crease to blend the edges.
liquid liner is always the way to go if you want staying power. this drugstore find has NEVER failed me. finish off the look by filling in and setting your brows and applying mascara (waterproof if you think you need it!).

voilà!!
easy, glowy makeup thats perfect for besting the summer heat.

ps: y’all, seriously go give that bb cream a try! it’s the bomb!

2016 festival trends + necessities with l’oreal

well the first round of coachella was this past weekend kicking off the 2016 festival season.
was i there? sadly, no. i was in oklahoma inside all weekend because it was raining.
but don’t fret my little lovebugs, because you’ve still got all summer to road trip out to bonaroo (june 9-12), lollapalooza (july 29-31), stagecoach (coming up soon april 29-may 1), or hit up smaller festivals near you to hear and support local musicians.

okay, we all know that i’m not the boho/hippie type so this is probably as “festival-ish” as i’ll be getting. lol
since festival season is here i thought it would be helpful to share some fun fashion trends as well as some necessities you’ll need to survive any festival!
i got my girl rach to help me out with this today because she’s a bonaroo veteran…and well, i’m not.
1) comfy, close toed shoes
from personal experience (and everyone else i’ve talked to), outdoor concerts are dusty, you’re going to walk a lot, and if you’re into being in the pit, you’re feet will be stepped on. consider wearing sneakers or booties. maybe even some cheap shoes you don’t throwing away after if they get trashed. i love my adidas superstars and my go-to’s are always my white chucks!
those cute little sandals won’t hold up, i promise you, and sneakers are IN right now, honey!
2) bralettes
one thing that most music festivals have in common is that they are HOT. no wonder every girl (myself included) wears crop tops, bralettes and bikini tops. but if showing off that much skin just isn’t your thing, rach suggests trying out a vest, cute tank, or even a light jacket if it gets breezy at night. covering up can also save your bare shoulders from those intense sun rays.
these are my favorite bralettes! they have great coverage, don’t ride up and come in so many colors!
(a lot of smaller boutiques sell this brand, so check out your local stores!)
3) spf
speaking of intense rays, please please please use sunscreen! it seems obvious but it’s definitely something that’s often forgotten and overlooked.
along with sunscreen, consider bringing along some sort of canopy or tent if you’re camping out.
4) bandanas
i love this trend. like i’m about to go to hobby lobby and buy 4 bandanas. (they’re only 97 cents!) wear them like a headband, like a choker, to cover your face from dust..i’m personally a fan of the choker/scarf style, but the options are endless.
[ see some coachella bandana inspo from instyle! ]
5) pastel hair
this trend has been around for a while now, but it is always emphasized around festival season. i know we can’t all afford a variety of wigs like kylie jenner, but you could definitely diy some pastel roots or dip dyed ends!
l’oreal’s Feria Smokey Pastels hair dye is perfect for a quick, trendy change up! choose from lavender, pink or blue to get that perfect dusty pastel color. seventeen sent me the smokey lavender to try out, but i think my hair might be a bit too dark. who knows, i’ll probably try it anyway…or dye my sister’s hair. heheh
just remember, if your hair isn’t already fairly light that you safely lighten it. do it right and save yourself from a nightmare of fried ends!
if you’re going to any big festivals, let me know so i can live vicariously through you!
xoxo, emily
