spring break photo diary: caribbean cruise.

honey, i’m hooommmmeeee!
just kidding there was no one waiting on me back home in stilly, but that’s why i have you guys right? πŸ˜‰

i don’t know how i’m going to contain myself as i write this post, because this past week was so full of fun!! i guess i’ll just give you a quick, day-by-day run down of the week.

oh! and don’t miss out on the little spring break trailer i guess you could call it down below.
because sometimes pictures just aren’t enough. πŸ™‚

– two of my girlfriends and i flew out to miami to meet up with our roadtripping friends at the port

– got off the boat super early in nassau!
– explored downtown nassau, the straw market, and junkanoo beach
( if you’re going to nassau, you should skip junkanoo and pay the $4 taxi/ferry ride over to paradise island.)
– road over to paradise island (home of the atlantis resort!) and beach bummed on cabbage beach.
– after dinner that night, we headed back to senor frogs to dance our little booties off! SO FUN.

– tendered off coco cay; aka royal caribbean’s PRIVATE island in the bahamas! what, what?!
– beached alllllllllll day

– key west, florida!
this is such a quaint little town, and i love it! make sure you grab a slice of key lime pie while you’re there and head on down the the most southern point of the continental u.s! so cool!
( don’t like key lime pie? stop by GLAZED. this gourmet donut & coffee shop has THE BEST key lime pie dessert in the country! )

– said goodbye to our home for the week πŸ™
– spent a little bit of time at hollywood beach in ft. lauderdale before catching our flight.

i’m dying to know what y’all did for spring break!
let me know in the comments!
xoxo, emily

spring break part two: FORT WALTON BEACH.

unlike NOLA, i have like no pictures of the florida part of our trip..but i mean can you blame me? i was bummin’ on the beach the whole time!
but anyway, here’s a few pictures i snapped with my GoPro, during a shoot or my phone while out and about!
other than lay on the beach, we did do some fun things like PARASAIL, try local restaurants and venture over to destin to meet up with one of my girls from school!
we stayed at the Wyndham Garden Resort on oakaloosa island in fort walton beach. when you stay with wyndham one of your perks is beach chairs and umbrellas. don’t ask me why that makes me so excited because it just does! heehee
also, wanna make friends fast on the beach? wear your school colors. you’ll have people yelling “go pokes!” at you from down the beach! #okstate

{ grilled, fresh red snapper from Harbor Docks in destin }
fun fact: harbor docks is the only restaurant in destin that catches it’s own seafood daily!

{ why yes, yes i do have my own deep sea fishing boat in destin. πŸ˜‰ }

{ whataburger on the beach…true texan. }

i’d say six years is too long a gap between beach trips, and it definitely won’t be happening again!
ft. walton you were good to us.
i’ll be seeing you soon!
xoxo, emily

spring break part one: NOLA

(sorry for the spring breakers reference, but i had to.)
oh and not apologizing for the photo overload. πŸ™‚
this will be the first spring break that i’m not hitting the slopes, which is exciting and sad all at the same time. exciting because, well come on who doesn’t love the beach?! and sad because skiing is one of my all time favorite things to do.
anywho, momma and i decided we’d take a little longer to get to fort walton beach, florida and spend the night in NOLA (that’s new orleans for all of you that aren’t up to date ;)). we stayed in the Riverfront Omni Hotel & Resort, which is right across from the riverwalk that conveniently has great shopping!
we spent our first afternoon exploring the french quarters and downtown NOLA. let me tell you, if you’ve never been it’s quite the experience, especially at night. the people, the atmosphere and city all light up at night. IT’S INSANE, but so cool. we went to Deanie’s Seafood for dinner…SO GOOD, but SO BUSY. get there early or expect to be waiting over an hour, which is definitely worth it by the way. after dinner we pretty much just walked around people watching and seeing what all downtown had to offer.
we were told before we left on our trip that we HAD to get beignets while in new orleans, so we went to the famous Cafe Du Monde for some french press coffee and beignets completely covered in powdered sugar. again, SO GOOD.
tips for new orleans from a first-timer:
– WALK. if you get a hotel in the french quarters or downtown, walk everywhere. and if you must drive park in the public french quarter parking. spots on the street are tiny and good luck finding one.
– cafe du monde. go there. it’s so stinkin’ good. however, the french quarter location is NOT the only one. remember that when you see the line.
– i gave mom a hard time for this, but carry a map if you need one. the streets all look the same (especially at night) and you might get turned around if you’re not careful.
NOLA, you’ve been good to me..but this girl needs her white sand beaches and bikinis.
