well hello friday! thank goodness for the weekend, am i right? i’m SO excited for gameday tomorrow, (go pokes!!) but today i’m just as excited to share my bar cart with y’all! this has been a long time coming. remember way back when i shared my bar cart pin-spiration and wishlist? i wasn’t sure why i wanted a bar cart..i think i just thought they were pretty, but “decorate a bar cart” made it as #25 on my “by 25” bucketlist so it had to be done. 😉
i really wanted to do this as budget friendly as possible, which is why it took me a little while to fill my cart. trust me, i wish i could have just gotten this one from overstock, loaded up my cart with fun coasters and beautiful glasses at anthropologie & allll the great bar tools at crate & barrel, but unfortunately bank accounts have limits and boutique jobs don’t pay the big bucks.
however, this gal doesn’t back away from a challenge. i swear i became almost as good a thrift shopper at sarah belle. thank you resale shops, goodwill, tj maxx & craigslist..oh and of course the 40% hobby lobby coupon!! so i thought what a great day to share a few decorating-on-a-budget tips!
1. flash sales
i always forget about flash sale sites, but you can score some great deals if you’re lucky! i check Groopdealz once or twice a week for fun, little gifty items or seasonal home decor and scored this light box sign for like $17. my other fave flash sale sites are HauteLook, RueLaLa, Gilt Groupe & One Kings Lane!
2. be a coupon queen
have no shame in using coupons. lol i mean you are on a budget after all. i’m pretty sure i use the 40% off coupon at Hobby Lobby every. single. time. i also use Ebates whenever i can with online purchases to get some extra cash back! (like 15% cashback from Pier 1..WHAT?!) sign up for free with my link here!
3. get thrifty
let me tell ya what, i looked through so many thrift stores, resale shops, craigslist ads before i found my cart, but i got such a great deal on it! i also got all my glassware at a resale shop for like $4. BONUS, it all matches. YES.
4. faux is friend
my biggest tip for staying on a budget is going faux. you’d spend money every week replacing fresh flowers and fruit. instead, just get a few fake limes or lemons and create a seasonal bouquet from faux flowers and greenery and call it good! i do buy fresh blooms on occasion, but it’s not something i want to always worry about keeping up with.
