it seems like faux leather (aka vegan leather) is a trend every year, but this year it is one of biggest trends of the season. i swear you could wear faux leather head to toe with all the different pieces i’ve seen so far.
some of these faux leather pieces come off a little intimidating, but i promise you this is a trend you can totally pull off!
FIVE FAUX LEATHER PIECES YOU CAN TOTALLY PULL OFF
paper bag shorts
pair your shorts with a cozy sweater or bodysuit. top it off with a plaid blazer for contrast and your favorite pair of booties, and finish the look with layers of gold jewelry.
moto & puffer jackets
layer a black leather moto jacket over any fall dress to instantly edge up your look. perfect for cooler days or date nights!
leather trousers / leggings
a new piece i’m eager to try out: leather trousers! i plan on styling them with a knit bodysuit, my croc booties and a felt hat. oh, and gold jewelry of course!
i’m not usually one for tights, but paired with this faux leather dress and some combat boots (or strappy heels for a dressier look) you’ve got the perfect night out look! scale back the edgy-ness with a cozy teddy coat.
i love this casual look i put together! it’s full of basics you probably already have in your closet. pair a graphic tee, white sneakers & daytime bag with a leather skirt and shacket for an easy fall outfit.
TIPS FOR WEARING FAUX LEATHER PIECES
when in doubt, buy it in black – if you’re a little on the edge about buying and wearing leather, stick with black. it’s a little more understated and easier to pair with tons of things already in your closet.
stay away from shiny – this can be hard if you’re ordering online, but try to stay away from shinier faux leather. this tends to have a lower quality look and can often make funny noises when you move….we don’t need squeaky pants.
mix your textures – sometimes leather can come off a bit edgier than you were expecting. pair your leather pieces with cozy knits, tweed blazers, suede boots, teddy jackets, etc to create a more casual look.
