if you’re a fellow texas girl like me, you might be thinking this post is a LITTLE premature considering it’s still 95° outside, but just hear me out. i had ONE pumpkin cream cold brew the other day and now i’m itching for layers, cooler weather and all things sPoOkY. so even though the seasons are taking their sweet time changing, i’m wasting no time transitioning my wardrobe for fall. today, i’m sharing the key transitional fall pieces your wardrobe needs for the season.
MY FAVORITE TRANSITIONAL PIECES FOR FALL
a good pair of tailored trousers are a YEAR ROUND staple. wear them from fall all the way into spring (and summer if you live in a mild climate). wide leg trousers have been everywhere, but i love a good ankle crop pant too. pair either style with sneakers for a cool, casual look.
if you don’t have a blazer in your closet, THIS IS YOUR SIGN. avoid fitted styles and go for a boxier, boyfriend fit. they are cut straight and are slightly longer in design which is super flattering on just about everybody! as for color, you can’t go wrong with black, camel/tan, cream or plaid.
HOT TIP: if you want something super oversized, thrift a suit jacket from the men’s section!
haven’t hopped on the sweater vest trend yet? WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! i have a feeling these bad boys aren’t going away anytime soon. i have one in white, black and an oatmeal type color and i feel set. if you’re wanting to dip your toe in the cozy pool of sweater vests, i suggest picking one up in white or cream. the versatility is wild.

a good pair of boots will last you YEARS. there’s literally a style for ANY outfit or aesthetic. if your wardrobe needs a little update, here’s a few of my current fave styles:
SQUARE TOE – from slightly to fully squared, this is truly a trend i can get behind. this detail can take your look to the NEXT LEVEL.
WESTERN INSPIRED – finally my gameday cowboy boots are “in style”! western inspired touches are everywhere right now.
LUG SOLE – think chunky. these look so cool with feminine outfits or with pants tucked in.
i think by now we’ve all got more matching sweatpants and hoodies than we’d like to admit. so now let me introduce to you the matching KNIT lounge set. two pieces you can most certainly wear apart as much as you can wear them together. so CHIC and COMFY at the same time.

you’ve probably already got a satin midi skirt in your closet. try a satin MINI skirt! i just got one in from aritzia and i don’t know why i didn’t buy it sooner.
skirts not your thing? a satin/silk slip dress just might be the answer. the perfect layering piece and looks GOOOD with any of those boots we talked about earlier.
ALSO if you wore the crap out of your cotton button downs this summer, get ready to wear the crap out of a SATIN BUTTON DOWN. it’s autumnal perfection.
